he Kings Head – Horley Toast Office Pubs Ltd is an independent pub company that owns and runs The Kings Head in Horley. We absolutely love pubs, so we thought we’d get a few for ourselves.

We’re now looking for a reliable, hands-on Chef to join the kitchen and help deliver consistently great food.

This is an opportunity to work in the busiest and best pub in Horley.

Our aim is to have more pubs in the next 10 years than that horrible blue-spotted plate place where you have to trek upstairs to use the toilet.

About the Role

You’ll be working as part of a fast-paced kitchen team, helping deliver high-quality pub food while keeping standards high and service running smoothly.

We’ve got genuine freedom over what we put on the menu, so this isn’t a “microwave and ping” job — we actually cook here.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys cooking, works hard, and doesn’t fall apart when the orders start flying in

• Previous kitchen experience is ideal (pub kitchen experience a big plus)
• Able to set an alarm clock
• Can start and finish a task in the same day
• Works well under pressure without losing their head
• Takes pride in the food they put out
• Keeps their section clean and organised
• Understands basic food hygiene (and doesn’t try to cut corners)
• Happy to be part of a team and actually pull their weight Bonus points if you’ve got ideas and want to get involved with menu development

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation & Service
• Preparing and cooking dishes to a high standard
• Keeping service running smoothly during busy periods
• Maintaining consistency across all dishes Kitchen Operations
• Keeping your section clean, organised, and stocked
• Supporting deliveries, prep, and general kitchen duties
• Working closely with the rest of the kitchen team Standards & Compliance
• Following all food hygiene and safety procedures
• Supporting compliance with EHO standards to maintain a 5-star hygiene rating
• Helping reduce waste and maintain good kitchen practices Teamwork
• Working well with both kitchen and front of house
