The Cook assists in the daily preparation of a variety of Indian dishes, including curries, rice, vegetables, and snacks. This role supports the Head Chef and ensures consistent food quality across all items. On occasion you may be required to act as Tandoor chef or Head Chef.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook Indian curry dishes, rice, dals, appetizers, and accompaniments.
• Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes.
• Assist in mise en place (preparation) for daily service.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in food preparation areas.
• Coordinate with other chefs to ensure timely service.
• Store ingredients properly and report any shortages.
• Check temperature of chillers and ensure correct dating of products store.
Skills & Requirements:
• 2+ years of experience in an Indian restaurant kitchen.
• Understanding of Indian spices, cooking oils, and techniques.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain consistency.
• Good hygiene practices and basic food safety knowledge.
