We have a vacancy for a Kitchen Manager / Head Chef to join our catering team and work under the direction of our Home Manager. Experience in preparing meals suitable for the British palate is required. Our catering team prepare meals for 50 elderly residents and this position is perfect for individuals who are experienced.
The ability to relate to older people and a knowledge of catering for their nutrition and dietary needs and experience of working in a kitchen providing meals for large numbers is necessary. Knowledge of food hygiene regulations and responsibilities under HSAW Act are necessary.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and presentation.
Wage is negotiable depending upon experience and qualifications. Hours are 31.5 per week worked over 3 x 10.5 hour shifts starting at 6.30am and finishing at 5.30pm.
Duties Lead and supervise the kitchen team, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations Develop and design innovative menus that meet customer preferences and uphold brand standards Oversee food production processes, maintaining consistency in taste, presentation, and quality Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the timely procurement of ingredients and kitchen supplies Monitor stock levels and control wastage to optimise operational efficiency Train staff in food preparation techniques, hygiene standards, and customer service expectations Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the kitchen area Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery Skills Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment Extensive food production and culinary expertise with a strong understanding of UK cuisines Excellent team management skills, capable of motivating and leading a diverse group of staff Proficient in food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills Solid kitchen experience with a focus on food safety standards and hygiene practices Previous experience demonstrating leadership Strong knowledge of hospitality operations, including serving procedures and customer engagement Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively Leadership qualities that inspire teamwork and continuous improvement in culinary standards Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Benefits: Company pension On-site parking Work Location: In person
