Commis Chef

Position Summary The Rock Inn is a family owned a run business, for this position we are seeking a dedicated commis (junior/trainee) to join our kitchen team, This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills potentially learning about cooking & service (the two sides of being a chef). Being the first stage on the chef ladder we do not expect someone to know it all but we do expect someone that is keen to learn & eager to invest their time into the great team of people we have & importantly show willingness to progress. You will be under one of the best pub chefs in Staffordshire who will teach the importance of preparation, quality & speed. Estimated Start Date: May 2026

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation and setting up of your station before service
• During service your time will be partly split between plating starters, desserts & assisting with the plating of mains dishes as well as occasional kitchen porter duties
• Support senior kitchen staff with daily operations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards strictly.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to deliver excellent service.
• Uphold the reputation of Ye Olde Rock Inn through professional conduct. Qualifications & Requirements
• Prior experience in food preparation and service within a professional kitchen.
• Knowledge of basic food safety standards and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills & can follow vocal instruction.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and techniques.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities

• Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
