Kitchen Porter

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Kitchen Assistant/Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the kitchen operations, assisting with meal preparation, and ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times.

Duties

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
• Support the team in meal assembly, plating, and presentation to meet customer expectations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitising work surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately.
• Help with food safety compliance by adhering to hygiene standards and proper storage procedures.
• Prepare ingredients in advance for upcoming service periods, including chopping vegetables and measuring ingredients.
• Support catering functions by preparing large quantities of food as required.
• Serve food to customers in a professional and friendly manner when necessary.
• Assist with stock control, including receiving deliveries and organising storage areas efficiently. Qualifications
• Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
• Basic skills in meal preparation and food presentation.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools used in a busy culinary setting.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
